What Requirements are Necessary for PC Satellite TV Services?
With the rise of PC satellite TV services, more and more people look to it and wonder whether they should make the leap. While such services have much to offer, one of the areas that many remain unclear about is whether or not there are any 'minimum requirements' for the PC that is going to be used to obtain these services.
Truthfully, the only real answer to this question is: Yes there are requirements, but they vary from service to service. Generally speaking, the PC requirements that you will need depend solely on the client that the PC satellite TV service you've chosen is using. Most clients are fairly small and nondescript programs and they could probably run pretty comfortably on any Pentium 3 machine or higher.
That being said, some clients can actually be pretty resource hogging and may require something slightly faster and with more power than a Pentium 3.
All things said and done however, the more important question that you need to be asking yourself is what requirements are necessary in terms of the internet connection that you're using. At the end of the day, this is the one factor that is really going to play an all-important role in your PC satellite TV service seeing as any and all programs will be broadcasted via the internet.
With a connection that is too slow, you're going to find that the video playback appears 'choppy' simply because your connection isn't loading the video fast enough to play it without pausing momentarily here and there! If you want to avoid this issue, you're going to have to make certain that your connection is up to par.
Although many people say that any broadband connection should be enough for PC satellite TV services - that isn't necessarily true. In general, sure, you should be able to stream high quality videos with a good broadband connection, but you need to make sure that it really is a 'good' connection. More often than not people find that their broadband connections aren't really as good as they thought it was.
Depending on your Internet Service Provider (ISP), the area your live in, the cables that link your house to the internet, and so on you may very well find that your broadband is unstable and unable to provide you with the data transfer speeds that you need in order to use PC satellite TV services.
Frankly, the only way to find this out is to test your connection speed - or better yet, try out PC satellite TV services first hand and see how they run!
